XONORATE was founded by someone who spent 16 years in a New Jersey prison for a crime he didn't commit. He was exonerated in 2021, after the state's Conviction Review Unit found he never should have been convicted. He knows firsthand how long a case can sit unattended, and how much it takes to move one.

We know how much of that work falls on the people closest to the case: a spouse who becomes the only earner, a parent learning court procedure at the kitchen table, children growing up waiting.
